Spoiled and stuffed

My in-laws spoiled us rotten this weekend by taking the girls for a few days. It's been a while since Kyle and I had two entire days to ourselves, and we took full advantage of them by sleeping in, eating out, and drinking more than we needed to.

Friday night we stayed in Grand Rapids. We enjoyed a day-after-Valentines dinner at a very nice seafood restaurant, then walked around town and hit a few bars until heading back to our hotel before midnight.

Saturday morning, while Kyle slept in, I ran on the hotel treadmill before we both enjoyed a room-service breakfast in bed.

I don't know what it is about room service breakfast, but I'd choose that over a fancy dinner out any day. It feels so extremely indulgent to be eating this over-abundant spread while sitting in your pj's (and...I didn't have to make or clean up any of it).

After breakfast we took our time returning home. We enjoyed a late lunch, stopped at the "big mall" so I could spend a gift card that's been in my wallet for ages, then went to what I would call the Costco of tools. A huge store filled with bargain-priced tools and hardware. Kyle is so particular about the tools he uses – he's a quality over quantity guy – I was surprised at how much he bought. He even bought me a wet/dry vac that I can use to suck water out of our basement...2.5 gallons at a time. (Hey...this really does make me happy!)

After driving home to a blizzard at about a foot of fresh snow that had fallen overnight, Kyle decided that he wanted to drive to Ludington and listen to a band that was playing at The Mitten (a very cool Michigan-only beer, wine and vodka bar). We drove up after dinner with our friends Eric and Shelly, and eventually were joined by my three brothers and their significant others.

Thanks Grandpa and Grandma Mox for stealing the girls away for a few days. Kyle and I needed a few days to ourselves, but we're ready for our peeps to come home. I miss them!

  1. We didn't have room service, we had a grandpa who can really cook, and the girls got whatever they wanted for breakfast...pickles as a side to home made loaded oatmeal for breakfast.

We had a fun filled time and want this to be an annual event.

So glad you guys used the time to make some memories for just the two of you.

    Hugs
