Special dresses

With a large number of "special occasions" on the horizon, we needed a new dress or two. When we were in Muskegon last week I found a rack of Polly Flinders dresses at TJ Maxx. I instantly fell in love. There is a reason I've never run across her dresses before. While the little girls' sizes are adorably vintage looking (I love this coral shift with the Peter Pan collar. I bought each of the girls one.) The smaller sized dresses are over the top – smocked bodices, full skirts, puffy sleeves. Oh my. At $12.99 each at TJ Maxx I didn't break the bank. At $70+ full price, we would have had issues.

Now, what about for me? In the "great closet clean out" last fall (AKA Project 333), I kept one "special" dress. With seven "special" events, I decided a new dress or two was in order. I bought two while shopping in GR with Gina a few weeks ago – both on the clearance rack at one of my favorite boutiques, but also have my eye on this one from Shabby Apple. Special enough?

Oh...and as for Project 333. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to transition from winter to spring clothing while living in Michigan? I'd love to wear the lightweight blouses, pale blue cargo pants and short-sleeved t-shirts that are waiting for me in our cedar chest, but I'd have to cover it all up with my cold-weather sweaters and hoodies. I'll have to wait a few more weeks before I switch my clothing over. I'm ready though. I'm very tired of a few things. One nice thing about Project 333 is that you certainly get your money's worth out of your favorites!

  1. Love Ellie's dress. With all the girls (nieces and Josie) you have in your family, that little dress will pay for itself. As for the one you want....it is you.
