Monday's Hart Healthy 5K race in Hart, MI was great! Not only did I PR at 26:13 (8:27/mile), but it was my first "top" finish in a race…ever.
There were a few factors on my side:
1) Cooler weather
2) I'm used to running hills
3) Amy was camping (she's always a minute or two ahead of me!)
I signed Kyle and the girls up for the bridge walk, so they were on the walk course when I came in for the finish (no pictures). Their walk had not gone as well as my run, so once back at the starting area, they were ready to go. I made a quick glace at the finish times, saw my name as #5 in the 30–39 group, and told them we didn't need to stay for the awards ceremony.
We headed to Ludington for brunch at Old Hamlin, and while enjoying hot coffee and waiting for our food to arrive I used my phone to look for official results. I about jumped out of my chair when I saw my name at #2 in the 35–39 age bracket.
My one chance to hear my name announced at an awards ceremony and I missed it. Oh well, breakfast with my peeps at Old Hamlin was worth it!
